aayush sharma, salman khan, aayush sharma and salman khan, kisi ka bhai kisi ki jaan, antim, loveyatri

Aayush Sharma stepped into Bollywood in 2018 by playing the lead in the Salman Khan-produced romcom Loveyatri. Since then, the actor – who is married to Khan’s youngest sister Arpita Khan, starred in the Salman co-starrer Antim and is now prepping for the release of his next, Ruslaan. Interestingly, the upcoming action flick is Aayush’s first venture outside the family’s production house

While promoting his film recently, Sharma opened up about his decision to ‘move out’ of his brother-in-law’s production house stating that it wasn’t a fallout but a conscious choice to pursue growth. For the unversed, Aayush was reported offered a part in Salman’s Kisi Ka Bhai, Kisi Ki Jaan’ but rejected it. This left fans wondering if all was well between the two.

Aayush Sharma on not working with Salman Khan

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Aayush Sharma discussed his decision to collaborate with newer entities, expressing a desire to evolve and earn recognition independently. He stated, “It is not like that, it is my house. No actor works with only one production house. Honestly, it is very funny, but my choices have been in a lot of discussions. There are many actors who have worked in their comfort zone, worked with a particular production house, then went out, then went back to the same production house. I wanted to step out, my intention is to go out there.”

This move highlights Aayush’s aspiration to establish himself beyond familial ties and broaden his professional horizons in the film industry. His decision reflects a strategic approach towards career advancement, emphasising personal growth and merit-based recognition over familial associations.

The actor acknowledged Antim as a significant opportunity, noting that not everyone could have received such a project effortlessly. The ‘Loveyatri’ actor said, “You don’t get to play such an important role in your second film, in a movie which has Salman. It was not a guest appearance of 5-7 minutes, he was an important character in the film. Somewhere down the line, the story revolves around my character. This opportunity you don’t get (often), but I got it. I have to be grateful and understand that this is the biggest support I can ever get. Now the journey has to be mine.”

He continued, “I cannot keep working only in the family, in a closed set-up, because then my growth would also be stunted. It was a conscious decision to move out of the family for some time to work outside. It was important for me to grow, learn myself, evolve and be worthy enough to be called back,”

Despite Antim’s release in 2022, the actioner proved to be a box-office disappointment. Aayush Sharma views collaborating with fresh faces as a means to expand his knowledge and skills.
